I've read the previous books in this series and enjoyed all of them. I enjoyed this one just as much. I'm not sure about the consistency of the characters. Kit, the heroine, seems to be maturing and looking a bit more before she leaps. Damon, Kit's love interest, seemed somewhat inconsistent based on the previous books. He's there for her, but not all up in her business, which is a change. But, I guess it's related to previous events.
The "job" Kit takes in this story is interesting. It isn't fully resolved, but that's always the case.
I think some of the words could be cleaned up to make the story crisper. There's a bit of repetition in the internal thoughts that Kit has that I kind of feel like it's going around and around a bit. I'm really not sure how to explain it, but I've read enough books by this author to know it's her writing style.
I do wish there had been another couple proof readings. I noticed too many misplaced or incorrectly spelled (wrong meaning) words.
